DRAWS MADE: For Midweek Cup Action

02 May 2013

There will be three sides in midweek action for Levy Green this summer; two in the Watford Observer competitions and one in the newly-created Heath Park Cup (replacing the now defunct Gazette Cup).

Last year's Shield runners-up Leverstock Green 'A' are seeded into Round Two along with the seven other quarter-finalists from 2012. The 'A' team will host either Aldenham School or Abbots Langley in a Second Round tie to be played by Friday May 31.

Leverstock Green 'B' are in Round One action, meanwhile, and will host Watford Grammar School for Boys - a team which normally fields a mix of pupils and teachers - with a date soon to be set as Round One ties must be played by Friday May 17.

Should the 'B' team prevail, they face an away match against Punjabi Panthers in Round Two.

Twenty-four teams are lining up in the WO Shield, with all eight first-round losers earning another crack at summer silverware via the Plate competition.

Here's the Round Two draw in full:
Watford Town 'A' v Rickmansworth School Staff or Northwood Town
Punjabi Panthers v Leverstock Green 'B' or Watford Grammar School for Boys
Watford Haidery 'B' or Met Police Bushey 'B' v Hemel Hempstead Town
Bushey or Langleybury 'B' v Chipperfield Clarendon
Radlett or Watford Haidery 'A' v Langleybury 'A'
Aldenham or Chenies & Latimer v Met Police Bushey 'A'
West Herts v Watford Town 'B' or Kings Langley
Leverstock Green 'A' v Aldenham School or Abbots Langley

In Hemel meanwhile, the Hemel Gazette wrote to all clubs saying it no longer had the resources to organize its long-standing cup competition - and Hemel Hempstead Town stepped in, thus the Heath Park Cup name (no prizes for guessing where the final will be played!).

Fourteen clubs have entered the inaugural 2013 straight knock-out competition, with Leverstock Green playing host to Langleybury in Round One. A date is still to be confirmed for this tie.

Here is the Round One Heath Park Cup draw in full:
Leverstock Green v Langleybury
Chipperfield Clarendon BYE
Kings Langley v Met Police Bushey
Little Gaddesden v Hemel Hempstead Town
Boxmoor v Berkhamsted
Itehaad BYE
Ivinghoe & Pitstone v Tring Park
Northchurch v Abbots Langley

Once arranged, first news of the game dates - with midweek home matches set to form the first half of the now customary 'Cricket & Curry Night' at the Green - will be released via the club's Twitter feed @LGCricketClub and here at lgcc.org.uk
