MIDWEEK MARVELS: Green Beat Bury

06 Jun 2013

LEVERSTOCK GREEN made up for their WO Shield disappointment with an excellent low-scoring win at Langleybury two days later, putting them in the quarter-finals of the Heath Park (ex-Gazette) Cup.

Green's batting again failed to deliver, however, and it was left to some parsimonious bowling and tight fielding to help steer the visitors to a 19-run win at Hunton Bridge.

Jordan Parkes' 20 atop the innings wasn't bettered, as only teenager Sam Revell (16 not out) batted with discretion with Levy posting a modest two-figure target in the competition's 20 six-ball over format.

Fortunately, a welcome cameo from midweek specialist Brad Klosterman (3-21 from his five overs) and accurate seam work from Luke Roberts, Kris Jadeja and skipper Sam Mazurek - put together with some excellent catching and run-saving - meant Bury's regular clatter of wickets kept them from at any point believing they could overhaul Green's total.

A home last-eight tie against Chipperfield Clarendon now awaits The Green's midweek squad.
