BRIAN LARA is looking forward to experiencing a unique atmosphere at Lord's this Sunday, June 22, when he plays for the MCC against Hertfordshire in the Lord's Bicentenary Anniversary Day clash.

The fixture - a repeat of the first ever match at the current Lord's Ground 200 years ago - will allow spectators to enjoy the match while sat on the outfield for the first time at Lord's since 1987.

And Lara is relishing the opportinity to perform in a more relaxed environment to that which he experienced as a player.

He said: "I remember looking at the West Indies play in the 70s and seeing all the spectators running on from the boundary even before the ball had left the field!

"It will be nice to go back to those days - the public will enjoy having the opportunity to be so close to the players."

MCC and Hertfordshire's 40 over match - which also features the likes of former Ireland captain Trent Johnston and ex-South Africa batsman Dale Benkenstein - provides the on-field entertainment, but there is plenty more happening off the field.

Ticket holders can enjoy cricket master classes, a Victorian-Style three-course lunch or Champagne Afternoon Tea and, subject to space, explore the famous Lord's Pavilion.

There is plenty of free family entertainment around the ground, including a fun fair and live performances from local acts.
