HERTS LEAGUE ROUND-UP: 7-Up For 2s
07 Jul 2014
DAYLE LITTLEJOHN'S 2nd XI made it seven wins from seven games played in Division Five - but that was Leverstock Green's sole success from a disappointing Saracens Herts League Saturday.
All Green 2s' previous six victories had come bowling first and the seventh was no exception, although it was a much nervier finish with Levy eight down before scrambling home at Old Cholmeleians. Captain Dayle took 5-23 and scored 22, while Jamie Wallis hit 24 as Green chased down 84 on a damp track.
Six for 40 from Brett Baney (pictured) brought up his 30th summer dismissal but the figures came in vain as the 3rd XI failed to chase Cockfosters III's 109 all out. Oli Sawyer milked three wickets and Karl Turner hit 32 in the run chase which ended 23 short.
Six 20-something scores helped Green 4th XI post 185-9 at Chorleywood IV, Wasim Saleem with 28 the best of those. Wood skipper Simon Dare struck an unbeaten 98 to help see his side home four down.
And the first Herts League draw of the summer for any of Levy's four teams came after the 1s ran out of overs and wickets going after Cockfosters' 41-over haul 153 all out - Brad Klosterman taking 5-38.
Green lost six overs for a slow rate and ended up on 135-9 with Lewis Koch (48) the top run-maker.
