HERTS LEAGUE ROUND-UP: Century For Kris
14 Jul 2014
A MAGNIFICENT 115 not out from Kris Jadeja (pictured) helped send the 1st XI back to the top of Herts League Division Two on an afternoon of mixed results across the club.
Both the 1s and 4s took 30 points - the latter as a result of a concession at 11.10am by Bushey IV, not the way any cricketer wants to hear of a postponement.
On the field, Jadeja's century - allied to Lewis Koch's 40 and 24 from Mark Landau - saw Levy post 257-8 dec off 44 overs against Baldock. Sam Mazurek took five wickets as the visitors were removed 89 runs short of the target.
It was a day to forget for the all-conquering 2nd XI, brought down to earth with a bump at Bentley Heath. They remain second in Division Five, but the gap to leaders Harpenden III has grown.
Green were skittled for 57 in reply to Heath's modest 131 all out, during which skipper Dayle Littlejohn took 6-54.
The 3rd XI's batting woes continued. Mired in a mid-table spot right now, they failed to make inroads towards the summit when North Mymms III found 144 well within chasing range at Parmiter's School.
From 31-5, Green's target was a decent effort. 3s' skipper Gareth Tucker weighed anchor for 46 - and received support from Steve May, Mike Parkes and vice-captain Brett Baney who struck 26.
Mymms took more than 50 overs to reach Levy's total, but patient knocks showed where the hosts missed out earlier on as they slumped to a five-wicket defeat.
Full scorecards are online now.
