MIDWEEK CRICKET: One Final (July 22) And One Near Miss

18 Jul 2014

IT'S off to the Met Police ground on Tuesday July 22 for the final of The Watford Observer Plate Fourteen14 competition against Bushey CC.

However, Leverstock Green were unable to complete a midweek final double when they fell by three wickets at Hemel Hempstead Town last night in the last four of the Heath Park Cup. Town will now host Kings Langley in the August 1 final.

Levy made a below par 112-7 from their 20 overs at Heath Park, but pegged back Hemel's chase with regular wickets to force the hosts into the middle of the 19th over before the winning runs were struck with three wickets in hand.

You may have noticed that next week's WO final date places it in Cricket Week, however minimal disruption to proceedings is expected with none of the final squad selected to play The Old Contemptibles on The Green at 2pm.

The team will travel by minibus from The Green to Met Police and straight back after the match for 'Sing-a-long-a-Levy' - hopefully carrying a piece of silverware!

Supporters are warmly invited to come over and lend support for the 14 eight-ball over format showpiece, starting at 6.15pm.

Details of Green's WO semi-final win over Frogmore earlier this week are available online now, with the scorecard of the narrow Hemel defeat to be published at the weekend.
