A LETTER of thanks from SAWICC (St. Albans West Indian CC) was recently received, for our participation in their August 3 Vivian Blackwood Memorial T20 tournament.

Leverstock Green CC's burgeoning relationship with our near neighbours was further enhanced when a team - and a sprinkling of fans - travelled to Greenwood Park for a typically Caribbean afternoon.

Luton WI CC and Leicester WI CC were the other tournament participants, with the latter emerging victorious.

The letter - penned by SAWICC club secretary Fitz Stapleton - thanked us for taking part and informed of the intention that the day will become an annual event, to honour Viv's contribution to his club.

The letter also asked for comments upon how the day could be improved and what was most enjoyed. Anyone who attended, please pass your comments to Club Captain Richard Walker as soon as is practical.

The Cricket Week visits from SAWICC and this tournament have shown that, while cricket is competitive, the spirit of the sport - particularly between the two clubs - is very much alive and well.

To all our SAWICC friends reading this, we look forward to seeing you again next season, both at The Green and at Greenwood Park.
