FRI OCT 25: Players Meeting & Ryder Cup

19 Oct 2013

PLAYERS MEETING - 2014 CAPTAINS VOTING
With an excellent hot meal being provided at a small cost to all of you attending, please ensure that you make a point of being at a Players' Meeting, which will help set the tone for summer 2014 preparations.

The evening will consist of the following items:

- Election of Captains
- Presentation of a couple of awards
- An open discussion on Sunday cricket and what it means to LGCC
- Reiterate the principles of our Player Code of Conduct
- An update on the Club extension and fund raising
- Wrap-up, Hot food and a few drinks!

The meeting will start at 7.30pm (the bar will be open from around 7pm) and will conclude with food served at about 8.30pm.

This is a very important meeting to kick off our winter preparations so please make every effort to attend.

Election of Captains
There is a sheet on the notice board for people to put their name forward for any of the captaincy positions. We are happy to take nominations by email/phone as well. This is only for captains as the vice-captain positions are appointed by the elected captain.

At the last Cricket Committee meeting we decided to make the vote for captains more inclusive should we have more than one name for any team. This is the case with the 2nd XI at least this year with both Brad Klosterman and Dayle Littlejohn having put their names forward.

The idea is to hold an online vote for any position that requires one. This vote will be carried via survey that will be emailed to all players on Wednesday evening (23rd) so all nominations need to be in place by 10pm that evening.

We will track people who vote so that anyone who does not receive the email or is unable to complete the voting can place their vote on the night via a paper form. We will then collate all the votes and announce the result. So look out for an email late on Wednesday.

This will allow players who are unable to be at the clubhouse in person on Friday night a fair voice into the plans for summer 2014.

BUILDING FOR OUR FUTURE - LGCC CLUBHOUSE DEVELOPMENT FUND
Thanks to all cricketers for submitting an 'Expression Of Intent' form at the Awards Evening, with regards to showing support for the major clubhouse refurbishment scheduled for this winter.

There will be an update on fund-raising progress at the Players' Meeting on Friday.

We look forward to seeing you on the 25th, for

Friday October 25, from 12.30pm
RYDER CUP GOLFING CHALLENGE (Bushey Hall Golf Club)
Before attending the Players' Meeting in the evening, book a half day off work (or for you students, drag yourselves away from the XBox, or simply get out of bed early maybe!) and join like-minded golfers - of all abilities - at Bushey Hall Golf Club for an LGCC Ryder Cup Challenge afternoon.

Around 15 have already committed to playing, but it's a case of the more the merrier. Please update your availability on the Teamsheet selection page (after logging into the website) to confirm your attendance. We need to declare final numbers by end of Monday October 21.

There'll be bacon rolls, an on-course spot-prize hole and buffet-style food afterwards - all for a very modest charge, courtesy of some fine work from BHGC greenkeeping maestro Samuel Mazurek.
